What I Believe

Marko Dimitrijevic Philanthropic Giving

Giving back has never been just a duty for me it’s a calling that’s guided every chapter of my life. I’ve always believed that when you invest in people their education, health, and the places they call home you create ripples that last for generations.

I’ve been fortunate enough to travel the world, invest in emerging economies, and meet extraordinary people in every corner of the globe. But no matter where I go or what I build, my heart always returns to one idea: a community only thrives when its people thrive.

Building Stronger Communities

One of the most fulfilling parts of my work is seeing neglected places come back to life old buildings transformed into vibrant spaces where children learn, families gather, and neighborhoods grow stronger together. Whether it’s renovating abandoned properties or supporting museums and gardens that educate and inspire, I believe that what we build today shapes the possibilities of tomorrow.

Where I Give
My giving isn’t about checking boxes it’s about standing behind causes that move me, challenge me, and make the world feel a little more hopeful. Alongside my team at Volta Global, I’m proud to support organizations that touch lives in ways both big and small:

Giving My Time

Giving isn’t just about writing checks it’s about showing up, lending your voice, and using your experience to help others make an even bigger impact. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of serving on the Stanford Business School Advisory Board, the Stanford Business School Trust, and on boards like the Frost Science Museum, the Pasteur Foundation, and the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts. One role that means a great deal to me today is my seat on the Board of Directors for Beneath the Waves. I’ve always felt a deep connection to the ocean it humbles me and reminds me that nature’s survival depends on what we do now. Beneath the Waves is turning research into real change from protecting marine areas to preserving species that can’t speak for themselves.
I also serve on the Board of Directors for The Buoniconti Fund to Cure Paralysis. This isn’t just a cause for me it’s personal. Having experienced a spinal cord injury firsthand, I know what it means to face what feels impossible. Joining The Buoniconti Fund’s mission to fuel the Miami Project to Cure Paralysis has been a privilege. This team is on the edge of what’s possible in neuroscientific research and every dollar raised brings hope to millions.

A Conversation That Inspires

I’ve been lucky to work alongside incredible people like Jamie Fitzgerald at Beneath the Waves. Sharing stories, ideas, and dreams with passionate leaders reminds me why I give because when smart, dedicated people come together, the impossible starts to look possible.

Why It Matters

At the end of the day, philanthropy is simply about believing that tomorrow can be better than today and doing something about it. Whether it’s through investments that open up new opportunities or giving that heals and empowers, my hope is that my work leaves this world just a little brighter, safer, and more connected than I found it.
